Here is 3ds Max Tutorial to Create 3d Cloud Text Effect. This Autodesk 3ds Max Text Tutorial will give you simple explanation how to create a 3d cloud text effect using Discreet’s 3ds Max. Follow these steps to create a 3d cloud text effect. Below here is the steps of 3ds Max Tutorial to Create 3d Cloud Text Effect. Enjoy it!
First, create 3d text in 3ds Max like you want, i.e. like this that appear bellow here:

Now make Particle Cloud and pick 3d text that you made, with these settings:

After that, you should load cloud / smoke, with these settings:

Then, set use rate to 500, like these settings:

Furthernore, you can set speed to 0.2 and variation to 100%, like these settings:

After that, set life to 10 and variation to 25, like these appeared settings bellow here:

Then, in frame 0, set size to 8 and in frame 25, set size to 85, and you should set variation to 50% and fade for to 15, like these settings bellow here:

Furthermore, in particle type, choose facing. You can see in this image bellow here:

Now, create 2 wind force as you see in picture below:

Then, let’s set strength of wind 1 to 0.2, turbulence to 0.2, and frequency to 2.0. you can see like image bellow here:

Now, you should set strength of wind 2 to 0.2. If you don’t understand clearly, see image bellow here:
Now make a gravity force as you see in picture bellow:

Then, let’s set strength to -0.3 and select spherical like image that appear bellow:

After that, bind this 3 force to your Particle Cloud. You’ll need to create a material. Go to material editor and set the options below for your material. Then click on face map. See the settings on image bellow:

Then, in opacity choose gradient. See image bellow:

And in Gradient parameters in color #2 choose noise and Radial for Gradient Type. If you feel confuse, you can see the settings in image bellow:

And in noise parameters, you should set size to 20, then in frame 0 set color #2 to white and in frame 35 to black, and in frame 0 set phase to 0 and in frame 35 set to 10. Let’s see the settings in image bellow:

Now, you can copy this noise to color #3 like these settings:

And assign this material to your Particle Cloud.
Make an omni light and if you want a puffy cloud you can use ray-trace shadow
Hide your text
You should see something like this in frame 0:

You should see something like this in frame 15:

And in frame 25:
